LINE (LGBTQIA+ In the North East) is committed to seeing a positive, genuine change in the north east community, where LGBTQIA+ people feel respected, safe and supported, have the courage to speak-up against injustice and celebrate diversity and inclusion
LINE WANGARATTA AT A GLANCE
LINE Wangaratta Inc. is a volunteer-led Not-for-Profit charity that coordinates social inclusion programs and events, aims at connection and support, raises awareness in the community, supports services and businesses to be LGBTQIA+ inclusive and has a vision of change in the north east region.
LINE Wangaratta knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. Back in 2019, our community group realised that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch LINE Wangaratta.
WHAT WE DO
Connecting the community
CARE PACKAGE PROJECT
A care package project for LGBTQIA+ people and families within North East Victoria.
The Care Package Project: LINE (LGBTQIA+ In the North East) Wangaratta, supported and partnered with Goulburn Valley Pride Inc. and Into Our Hands Community Foundation, coordinated a care package project for LGBTQIA+ people and families in North East Victoria.
The project aimed to improve the visibility and representation of the LGBTQIA+ community within North East Victoria and to improve social connection during the COVID-19 restrictions.
One Step at a Time
At LINE Wangaratta, we are dedicated improving the safety of our LGBTQIA+ community. To do this we offer communtiy groups and businesses education on LGBTQIA+ awareness and inclusive practice.
Through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate positive change in our community. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
ART THERAPY & SOCIAL CONNECTION PROJECT
The program focused on social inclusion for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, in a safe and supportive environment.
LINE Wangaratta's latest project combined the therapeutic nature of art in a safe and supportive environment. The 6-month Queer Arts Program ran as a series of COVID-19 safe online and in-person sessions with clay modelling, painting, photojournalism, bunting and more!
This project was supported by Goulburn Valley Pride Inc. and The Rural City of Wangaratta and finished in May 2021.
